Injuries from Hip and Knee Replacement Surgeries

Some of the serious side effects include difficulties walking or standing, severe pain, swelling, fractures, dislocation, and other problems such as a toxic reaction to metal debris in the bloodstream (metallosis), or "adverse local tissue reaction (ALTR) or "adverse reaction to metal debris" (ARMD). As the hip joint wears, metal fibers enter the tissue surrounding the joint, and can cause very dangerous medical conditions, including necrosis, where the tissues essentially die. There can be a reaction in a "pseudo tumor" which is a large swelling, similar to a tumor, which is the body's reaction to the metal fibers working into the tissue surrounding the joint.

At our personal injury law firm, we are concerned about those who have had surgery and are now suffering from one of the various complications associated with one of these implants. The health dangers can be extreme, particularly for the elderly, who commonly suffer greater dangers when a new surgery is the only resolution to the condition. Some hip implant systems have been recalled by the FDA, including the Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II, the Smith & Nephew, DePuy ASR XL Acetabular Hip System and the DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing System. If you do not know what implant was placed in your joint during surgery, or if it has been recalled, you can contact your surgeon can give you the information, or we can request the information when we represent you. As many of the side effects of these implants are extremely dangerous to the health of the patient, as well as his or her quality of life with regard to ability to walk and live pain-free, we urge you to contact our firm at your earliest convenience so that we can evaluate your case, at no cost to you, and advise you about the process of seeking compensation.
